Angela and Christi speak with Stacie Alexiou, CEO of Watt + Flux, an LED inspire company. Stacie carved her early Engineering experiences in the Merchant Marine aboard a ship sailing to 30 countries before she was 25 while training as a hands-on Engineer. She describes what that journey was like and we hear how she overcame so many obstacles that may cause the average person to quit but, Stacie is anything but average. Stacie's journey is a heartwarming success story that you will love to hear and will hopefully motivate others to keep going when everyone and everything seems to be against you. K.A. Stacie Alexiou carved her early Engineering experiences in the Merchant Marine aboard a ship sailing to 30 countries before she was 25 while training as a hands-on Engineer. Shaped by early roles in Engineering Design, Commissioning, and Mission Critical Facilities she graduated with her Engineering degree from Maritime College. Alexiou is proudly a Greek-American seasoned leader in the Engineering and Construction industry with two and a half decades of experience in the field. She is a Certified Energy Manager, Master Black Belt Six Sigma Trainer, and USCG unlimited horsepower former licensed Engineering Officer in the Merchant Marine. Career highlights she is most honored and grateful for include the MARAD Outstanding Service Medal for Engineering Officer roles in FEMA and Homeland Security commissioned Disaster Recovery missions aboard ship, managing the mechanical, electrical, and stakeholder operations in the rebuild of the World Trade Center towers, and founding WATT + FLUX, an engineering sustainability Certified B Corp business, that has removed over 30 million pounds of greenhouse gases across a wide portfolio of structures in the built environment and shipping vessels.

Alexiou churned her passion for empowering businesses owned by Women, Minorities, and Veterans into her Executive Coaching High-Performance division, Reverse Engineer Method. She is committed this year to connecting 50 diverse business candidates in need of training with 6-month sponsorships in the high-performance division to build stronger operating systems, measurable impact and increase profitability without sacrificing team wellness. There are major gaps in the back-end services tailored to construction small business leaders. We need those services built to support thriving sustainable growth in diverse small businesses. We are building full-stack digital SaaS to support the businesses we intimately understand and are eager to help thrive. These types of tools can ignite significant progress and advance those who seek to modernize strategically. Alexiou volunteers and mentors with Veterans, Rising Women, Sustainability, Suicide Hotline, and Wellness organizations, and serves on multiple boards including the Women Builders Council. Her favorite insight is that "things happen for us, not to us" and that struggles can be an opportunity to bind perseverance and grit to build something more resilient.
