Episode 71: ‘I Have a Voice’ With Jasper Baldwin
In this episode:
Christi and Angela speak with Jasper Baldwin, a female high school student currently enrolled in the Enoree Career Center (ECC). The ECC offers students the opportunity to take industry-certified courses built on skill-driven instruction and standards. Jasper has been participating in the firefighting program, a course is based on the learning objectives listed in IFSTA ís Essentials of Fire Fighting. She absolutely loves being a part of that program but it hasn't all been without its challenges, mainly the gender barrier that a lot of women still face in non-traditional roles. Jasper tells us how she is learning to overcome those challenges as well as some mature-for-her-age advice for other female students thinking about getting into what would typically be a non-traditional role for females. This is a wonderful success story for Jasper and we wish her the very best on her journey. Listen to hear more!

I just completed year one of firefighting and got my Fire One certification. I have gotten many certifications such as OSHA, National Firefighter NIMS, and Hazmat.
It has been very rewarding and I am so happy that I have been given the opportunity to help people. This is what I want to do as a career and Enoree has helped me so much to get there! I am very excited to get my Fire Two next year!
