Christi and Angela speak with Kate Rieling from Vertical Earth, a civil/site work contractor in the Metro Atlanta Area. Kate has been boots-on-the-ground for many years in the construction industry and currently manages several site work projects so she has a lot of experience being a woman in a non-traditional role. Kate tells us about her journey to get to where she is now and it wasn't an easy road however, she overcame the barriers that women in non-traditional roles face and has some tips for other women and/or young entrepreneurs wanting to get into the trades industry. About Kate:
Kate is a project manager for a civil/site work contractor in the Metro Atlanta Area. She graduated from Virginia Tech in 2008 with a degree in Building Construction and experienced her first project as an intern in 2005.
She was immediately enamored with the industry and all of the opportunities it provided. After four internships during summers in college, which she attributes to the majority of her learning about the industry, upon graduation she started working for one of the largest contractors in the US.

After several years, she decided to find a company that would allow her to stay local to the Atlanta area and take on more responsibility. In her current role, Kate manages several site work projects concurrently and is a founding board member for the Crew Collaborative, a non-profit organization working to empower the industry's next generation.
